Dec. 2012 - The Posse Foundation awards five CHEC seniors four year scholarships!

Five CHEC seniors earned four-year Posse scholarships. This year marks the most Posse scholars ever to come from CHEC and reflects the degree of academic talent in this year's senior class.

  • Rodrigo Umanzor was chosen as a Posse Scholar for the University of Wisconsin-Madison

  • Gilmar Alonso and Ismenia Garcia were chosen as Posse Scholars for Pepperdine University

  • Wendy Colindres was chosen as a Posse Scholar for Sewanee: The University of the South

  • Ana Martinez was selected as a Posse Scholar for Bucknell University.

Founded in 1989, Posse identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. Posse extends to these students the opportunity to pursue personal and academic excellence by placing them in supportive, multicultural teams—Posses—of 10 students. Posse partner colleges and universities award Posse Scholars four-year, full-tuition leadership scholarships.
