CHEC is seeking the services of a full time grant writer/event planner to complete a three member development team.

The Grant Writer/ Events Planner is responsible for fund-raising through proposal writing and events planning, PR, and serving as liaison to the organization's corporate partners. The Grant Writer/ Events Planner coordinates all corporate partners related activities including organizing monthly meetings, ad-hoc committees, and most importantly, planning the annual Scholarship Gala in early June.

Summary of Essential Functions (Responsibilities include, but are not limited to those summarized below.


  • Write proposals, applications, reports, and other information to donors.
  • Compose and disseminate press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, bios and other press materials.
  • Coordinate internal press events, including logistics support and development of press kits.
  • Arrange and facilitate meetings.
  • Provide development-related research.
  • Serve as liaison to the organization's corporate partners
  • Manage and maintain fund raising database.
  • Process and acknowledge gifts.
  • Maintain development files and tracking systems.
  • Assist in developing an annual fund-raising plan in conjunction with the Executive Director and Board.
  • Arrange and facilitate meetings.
  • Other program development and fund-raising as needs or opportunities arise.


Qualifications

  • At least an undergraduate degree
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and participate as an effective team member;
  • Must have positive attitude, sense of humor and be a team player who can work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attentive to details and keeping track of dates and deadlines;
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve and complete projects on a timely basis;
  • Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, database and Internet applications;
  • Ability to regularly work after hours and non-standard work hours;
