COLUMBIA HEIGHTS EDUCATIONAL CAMPUS CONFERENCING FACILITY


Opened in February 2006, this new four-story, 255,000-square-foot building provides Columbia Heights and the greater District of Columbia communities with convenient access to a modern, high-tech meeting facility. Located at the corner of 16th and  Irving Streets at 3101 16 Street, NW, the campus center offers state-of-the-art meeting spaces for up to 800 people on the first floor. The facility also features the latest in audio-visual equipment, on-site parking, network and Internet connections,  and more. The second floor contains a full open gymnasium and throughout the building there are classrooms with generous levels of natural light.  The conference center is primarily be used for education programs, regular community meetings, staff meetings,  and arts performances and gatherings. SCHOOL AUDITORIUM & PERFORMING ARTS THEATRE


Our auditorium and theatre is an 850-seat capacity performance venue available for concerts, performances, awards shows and graduations. Projection and other technical support is available.  You can enjoy a spacious lobby for light refreshments and/or displays as well as a large modern commissary available adjacent to the theater perfect for larger receptions, rehearsals, break-out space and meetings.  (Note: All groups reserving a rental of this venue must arrange for a lighting and sound technician to be on-site for the duration of an event.)


GYMNASIUM AND ATHLETICS CENTER
Rental of this multi-purpose gymnasium and related facilities that include a fully equipped fitness training room and locker and shower rooms can be used for sporting events and to accommodate large-scale gatherings from performances to 1,000-person meetings or dinners. The gym floor can be covered and tables set up throughout the expansive space.


MINI-UNITED NATIONS & LANGUAGE TRANSLATION FACILITY
This is a unique circular conferencing theatre that seats up to 200 guests for community meetings and performances. The Mini-UN features two wireless simultaneous translation booths for translation in up to five languages.  (Note: All groups reserving a rental of this venue must arrange for a lighting and sound technician to be on-site for the duration of an event.)



VIDEO CONFERENCE ROOMS
In its mission to offer students the most flexible learning environment possible, CHEC makes available the Distance Learning Lab for video conference rooms to the public for long-distance meetings or training sessions. There is also a Language Lab with full Audio Visual equipment.  Each of these two Labs seat up to 42 guests.



SMART CLASSROOMS

These rooms, which can accommodate up to 35 people per room, provide the perfect setting for workshops and breakout sessions, or can be  used as meeting rooms.They boast whiteboards, comfortable chairs, front computer stations, LCD projectors and Internet access.
